Workshop: New & Expecting Owners: Tips & Tricks

The Tesla Owners Club of B.C. is working on a series of workshops to provide members, new and expecting owners with the information they need to make the most out of Tesla products and services.

As part of the “New Owners On Boarding Events (NOOB-E)” series this workshop provides a quick and great overview of the various aspects of the technology and features as well as useful information one must be aware of. Attendees can submit questions prior to the workshop and ask more questions during the workshop. Time is set aside to allow as many questions as possible. Attendees can also have some additional time after the scheduled 1 hour workshop is concluded (depending on volunteer and attendee availability).

New and expecting owners will be invited by the Tesla Delivery Team to attend the clubs workshop and will get more details on what to expect on their upcoming delivery day from Tesla. Club members can join the NOOB-E group and find out how to register for the next workshop.

Workshop Attendees can gain access to club resources and workshop content. Please ask your delivery team or your club facilitator on how to register. Attendees are encouraged to join as a supporting member or just try us out by becoming a non-voting member.

SUPERCHARGER REVIEW – Tsawwassen, BC

Tsawwassen, BC – Tesla Supercharger

Feeling hungry at the Tsawwassen, BC Supercharger? The mall has all the food options, from a dozen Fast Food restaurants in the food court, to some fine dining, if you are feeling in the mood. On the south side of the mall, there is Milestones, Boston Pizza, and Montana’s. Also, when you are changing, the mall has an abundance of outlet stores for shopping.

With 12 supercharging stalls up to 150kW, including one nose-in stall for a trailer, Tsawwassen, BC Supercharger is well equipped to handle the local and ferry traffic. This is also an ideal stopping location for any Tesla owner travelling from or to the island during long distance travel. It is only a five minute quick drive to the ferry terminal!

Even if you are not feeling in the mood for a quick supercharging session, the mall has 26 Level 2 J-Plug (J-1772) charging stations. The stations are spaced around the mall for quick, easy, and free charging 24/7.

I would rate this supercharger a 10 out of 10, just for its points in location, accessibility, and furthermore its accommodations around the charger such as shopping, food, and other Level 2 chargers.

SUPERCHARGER REVIEW – Richmond, BC

Richmond, BC – Tesla Supercharger

Located halfway from White Rock to downtown Vancouver, the Richmond, BC Tesla Supercharger. Only 5 minutes off Highway 99, in the North Hudson’s Bay parking lot of Richmond CF Center. This location has 20 Supercharging stalls up to 150kW.

With 20 stalls and a giant mall right beside the supercharging station, you can enjoy shopping at many of the outlets that the mall has to offer. Just some are Hudson’s Bay, Apple, H&M, Foot Locker, Lids, Hot Topic, Nike Store, Sephora, Aldo, Swarovski, Shoppers Drug Mart, and dozens of other outlets.

What is a supercharger without finding a snack nearby? Well, don’t worry, this location has a wide variety of places to eat from for you to choose from. Listing a few examples such as Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Cactus Club, White Spot, A&W, Subway, Cobs bread, Blendz Coffee, KFC, OPA! Of Greece, Bubble Waffle Cafe, Dairy Queen, and many more food choices.

At this location, there are sadly no public J1772 chargers or even any Chademo/CCS chargers. The only chargers that Richmond CF center offers are the 20 Tesla Superchargers in the North parking lot by Westminster HWy and Minoru Blvd.

This is another ideal location to charge your car, and it is not too far off the highway. I frequently come here a lot, and personally, I always find something to do inside the mall, such as visit the Apple store or get a quick coffee; I would rate this location a 10 out of 10!

SUPERCHARGER REVIEW – Squamish, BC

Squamish, BC – Tesla Supercharger

Halfway up the Sea-to-Sky Hwy is Squamish, BC Tesla Supercharger. Located right off the Sea-to-Sky Hwy and Mamquam Rd is Garibaldi Village Mall, where you will find the Tesla Supercharger right behind the Boston Pizza. This location has 10 Supercharging stalls up to 150kW.

Fun fact, this was the very first Tesla Supercharger ever built in Canada! The first day of operation was over 6 years ago: July 12th, 2014.

If you’re feeling hungry, I would highly recommend going to one of the nearby restaurants/fast food locations within a couple of meters of the Supercharger. Some options are Boston Pizza, Starbucks, Subway, Freshii, Fresh Slice Pizza, Booster Juice.

If you need to do a little bit of shopping, there is a Canadian Tire, Dollar Store, Marks, & a BC Liquor Store. If you are feeling adventurous and want to get a quick workout in, there is Anytime Fitness.

At this location, there are sadly no public J1772 chargers or even any Chademo/CCS chargers. (Yet) The only chargers that Garibaldi Village Mall has to offer are the 10 Tesla Superchargers behind the Boston Pizza right off Sea-To-Sky Hwy and Mamquam Rd.

This location is perfect for charging and grabbing a quick bite to eat as there are so many restaurants and amenities near the charger. Personally, I would always get a Subway, and by the time I’m finished eating, the car is fully charged. I would rate this location a 10 out of 10!

SUPERCHARGER REVIEW – Surrey, BC

Surrey, BC – Tesla Supercharger

Did you ever feel like you need a quick charge in the heart of Surrey? Well, the Surrey, BC Supercharger is stationed at Guilford Mall and at the crossroads of 104 Ave and 150 St. With 20 supercharging stalls up to 72kW, all located in section 8 North of the Guilford mall parking lot with no pull in / trailer stalls. These Tesla Superchargers are called ‘’Urban Superchargers’’ which provide a dedicated 72kW per stall which is not shared like the 150kW stalls.

This location is very ideal for shopping as it has many outlets such as Hudson’s Bay, Apple, Aritzia, Disney Store, H&M, Old Navy, Nike, Sephora Lululemon, and many more. My personal favourite outlet being the LEGO Store, in which you can’t go wrong with spending some time in there while charging.

With the Supercharger being located beside a mall it has plenty of food amenities such as Starbucks, Chipotle, Tim Hortons, A&W, Freshii, New York Fries, Carl’s Jr, Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria, Wendys, Fresh Slice, and many more.

If you are not feeling in the mood for a quick bite to eat or need to do some shopping, there is a total of 10 Level 2 J-Plug (J-1772) chargers located all around the mall for quick and easy access. However, these chargers cost $2/h, except for the pair at the north side of the mall by the library which is free.

This is a marvellous supercharging location! 10 out of 10 in my books. It has an abundance of amenities and plenty of supercharging stalls. This location does get very busy at times but that is no problem for the amazing 20 stalls which can easily be upgraded to more stalls in the future.
