Mission Statement

To help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. We advocate for electric vehicles by supporting legislative efforts, offering test-drives & ride-alongs, volunteering , educating, and fundraising. We also host and attend social events, and passionately refer our family & friends to explore Tesla or EV ownership.

We are the Tesla Owners Club of BC… Living the Electric Dream.  We believe in an electric, low carbon future—with a healthy dose of performance to make it fun!

Executive Committee Directors

Rich Teer, President (March 2021 to Present)

Rich has been a technology enthusiast for as long as he can remember, and designed and built his first computer when he was 18. More than 35 years later he’s still playing with the software side of computers, but being paid for it. He specializes in C programming on UNIX/Linux, and has written a C programming book (which was published by Prentice-Hall) and numerous articles.

When not working, Rich enjoys listening to vinyl records on his high end audio system, reading, hiking, camping, and occasionally publishing his online digizine, Vinylphile. More recently, Rich has become an EV and renewable energy evangelist.

Rich lives in Kelowna with his wife, Jenny, and their canine child, Loki. They got their first Tesla (a blue Model 3 SR+) in 2019, which is usually charged by the solar array on their roof. They enjoy going on road trips in their Model 3, and look forward to adding a Model Y to their garage in the future.

 

Paul Carter, Founder & Vice President, Social and Events Committtees Member
Past President (February 2016 to February 2021)

Paul has over 30 years of programming and consulting experience in a wide range of industries and roles. Outside of work Paul advocates for sustainability. He have also served on several non-profit boards to give back to the community. Paul is currently a member of several organizations promoting electric vehicles and sustainability. Paul love to volunteer at public events to provide firsthand owner experience to provide public education on electric vehicles. He also love to drive on road trips to ski, hike, meet new people, and explore parks, art, and architecture.

 

Rob Bahd (2018 to Present) and Secretary/Treasurer (2019 to Present)

Rob is a Chartered Professional Accountant specializing in business and financial systems with 20 years of experience.

Rob has provided business process design, implemented new systems and process, data conversion of financial systems, integrations to other systems, developed reports, and supported and trained users.

He is a technology enthusiast and became interested in Tesla since the early days. He purchased his first Tesla in 2018 and became a proud owner of a Model 3.

R. (Dale) Monrad, Director (Since 2018)

Committees & Roles: Fraser Valley Chapter Lead, Webmaster
Prior appointments: Vice President (2020-05 – 2021-02)

Dale is self-employed assisting in managing a web design, development and hosting company that he previously owned. He earned a Diploma focused on Marketing and Sales Management in 1987 from the University of British Columbia.

Now living in Hope, BC he became a director of Advantage Hope, a community promotion organization reporting directly to the town council. He has owned a Tesla Model S75D since Sept 2016 and likes to participate in car shows. He was the newsletter editor/publisher for the Hamilton Mountain Rotary Club for several years before coming to BC. Dale served on the board as rally organizer for the Hamilton Mountain Motor Sport Club. He was responsible for organizing rallies and motocrosses and helped the club start the Mosport Race Track in Ontario.

Dale also has a history in the aviation industry. After obtaining his Private Pilot license with night time and float-equipped aircraft, he also earned his commercial and instructor endorsements and became an instructor managing a flying school and sold Cessna aircraft.

He’s an experienced Business Owner with a continuous history of marketing Business Machines, Mainframe Computers, Multi-User Computers, computer time-sharing, was a VAR (value added Reseller) and now for the past 2 decades, works in the Internet industry. He plans to continue to promote EV vehicles and clean air initiatives in Canada and here in BC, especially Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.


Joellen Lin, Director (Since 2019)

Roles & Committees: Social Media & Events Committee

Joellen owns a 2017 Tesla Model X. Her name is Stormtrooper1212. You will often find them at many Tesla events, fundraising campaigns for Vancouver General Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital, as well as proud ambassador-duo for Emotive—a BC government initiative to raise awareness of EV.

Outside of Tesla, Joellen is the owner of Steam Tea House, a teashop created to connect people through tea and coffee. She believes that when holding a cup of delicious and artfully crafted beverage in your hand, sipping casually yet intentionally, we are more open to the world of bold and courageous ideas.

Community is created, and magic happens. Joellen received B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Queen’s University, Kingston ON. She is a scientist by training, but a passionate tea sommelier at heart. After graduation, she decided to continue building her family legacy in Vancouver, BC where she calls home.


Rodolfo Yoshii, Events (Since 2020)

Roles & Committees: Events Director & Chair, New Owners Online Workshop Chair & Facilitator

Rodolfo is a proud Tesla investor since 2017 and an admirer of one of the brightest minds of our time, Elon Musk. He is a project manager/consultant at UPS Canada supporting small and medium businesses in improving their logistics, e-commerce, and business processes. During his free time and evenings, he also works in two side jobs: Online mentor at Udacity in their school of data science; and locally at Langara College as an instructor in project management.

Rodolfo served as VP of Programs at the Canadian West Coast Chapter PMI and volunteered in several roles from 2010 to 2016. He is very happy to be part of this club. He looks forward to sharing experiences with like-minded people on everything related to sustainability, the outdoors, technology, and the financial markets.


Felix Cretu, Social Media (Since 2020)

Roles & Committees: Social Media Director & Chair, New Owners Online Workshop Tip & Tricks Instructor

Currently, a 2nd Year university Business student with experience in the fields of robotics and economics. Felix’s passion for innovation, robotics, and technology led him to start a robotics club. This passion also led him to find Tesla. He helped his family & household to switch from internal combustion cars to Tesla.

Tesla’s mission led him to love the company and its goals. Felix is a proud owner since 2014. Having three Tesla cars over the past six years, Felix knows how far a Tesla can take you with over six years of Tesla experience. He says, “You can explore all over, and you really get to appreciate the innovation and technology while learning many great things about ”accelerating the mission to sustainability.”

OFFICIAL PARTNER OF THE TESLA OWNERS CLUB PROGRAM

We are incorporated in the province of British Columbia as a member funded society. Our members consist of owners, prospective owners, and enthusiasts. We have chapters in the Vancouver, Fraser-Valley and the Thompson-Okanagan. We are otherwise not afficilated with Tesla.

Part of over 170 clubs globally with sister clubs for Vancouver Island and the GuIf Islands.
